The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) through the Ministry of Health (MOH) continues to improve the delivery of healthcare services in Trinidad and Tobago
The objective is to bring basic primary and secondary healthcare services within the reach of communities through the construction of new medium sized hospitals
The Sangre Grande Hospital will be constructed to better serve the healthcare needs of the population of Sangre Grande and its environs
The new Sangre Grande General Hospital will be administered by the Eastern Regional Health Authority on behalf of the Ministry of Health
This new facility will function as a “partner” with the adjacent Sangre Grande Hospital and the Enhanced Health Centre in providing a comprehensive set of healthcare services
The Hospital will be designed and constructed in accordance with accepted international best practices and standards with regard to space requirements, functionality and maintenance of ambient conditions
Sangre Grande Hospital is bounded on the North by the existing Sangre Grande General Hospital, on the East by Ojoe Road, on the West by the Sangre Grande Hindu Primary School and on the South by a housing development with the new Sangre Grande Enhanced Health Centre which was completed in 2018, occupying part of the southeastern corner of the proposed site.
The Sangre Grande Hospital will have a capacity of 106 inpatient beds; 24 in the Medical Ward, 24 in the Surgical Ward, 24 in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Ward, 24 in the General Ward, 4 High Dependency Care and 6 in the Intensive Care Unit.
