The accomplishments of the record-breaking batsman Brian Charles Lara have inspired an entire generation of young cricketers to dream of international excellence. UDeCOTT is committed to constructing facilities to uplift and improve the lives of Trinidad and Tobago nationals and sport is no exception. The Brian Lara Cricket Academy provides the necessary foundation for young players to reach the highest level of the sport.
Envisioned to be the focal point for the development of future world-class cricketers, the Brian Lara Cricket Academy offers students, coaches and fans a platform for viewing matches and a training facility that will define the cultivation of future cricket giants. Just north of the city of San Fernando, the Brian Lara Cricket Academy is the first state-of-the-art cricket training facility constructed by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
Cricket enthusiasts have been thrilled with approximately 100,000 sq. ft. that includes a stadium with a 18,000 person seating capacity, club seating, lounges and executive boxes as well as exhibition space. The equally impressive field comprises a quick drain professional grade cricket pitch and a 70-metre radius playing field encompassing six pitches on the main playing field. The Academy also offers athletes 12 outdoor practice pitches, official and team locker rooms, gymnasium and operational equipment and score board.
UDeCOTT’s construction of the Brian Lara Cricket academy has also boosted the national interest in the game of cricket by providing a world class location for cricket matches and gives aspiring players the advantage of a state-of-the-art training facility.
The Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA) is a state-of-the-art competition venue and training facility for the development of world-class cricketers. The North Tower houses the Writing Press, Broadcast and Operations Floors. The Main Level contains facilities for concessions; rental spaces for the sale of refreshments and novelties, and washrooms. The South Stand is comprised of the Club Level which houses a restaurant space, lounge area and 3 conference rooms; while the Suite Level has 18 individual suites which are to be furnished by the end users.
UDeCOTT is in the process of expanding Car Park space by another 2,500 cars and further expansion of the surrounding road networks to facilitate easier access and egress from the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA)
