With expanded responsibilities for local government bodies and the growth of the Princes Town Region, UDeCOTT has been given the responsibility of constructing an Administrative Building for the Princes Town Regional Corporation.
The Borough of Princes Town is well-known for its Borough Day celebrations and a leading multi-religious society, with locals and visitors alike venturing to the south land to experience and partake in the various festivities. Some popular cultural events include stick fighting which is part of the Carnival celebrations, Ramleela and Princes Town Day to name a few.
Given the town’s close proximity to San Fernando, Rio Claro and Moruga, it serves as a major administrative and transportation centre for a substantial area of south Trinidad and has developed a reputation as a major shopping town for the southern region.
The building is proposed to be constructed on 42,000 sq. ft. of land to house staff of the Princes Town Regional Corporation. The facility is planned to feature a two-storey building inclusive of basement parking with ancillary buildings to house a guard booth, day care and electrical kiosk.
The motivation behind this facility is to assist the Regional Corporation in achieving its mission as being a service-oriented organisation working in harmony with the community to deliver a more efficient and quality service in a timely fashion with competence, commitment and compassion.
