On October 6th 2020, UDeCOTT Officially Opened the ultra-advanced Diego Martin Health Centre which was finished ahead of time and within budget. This Health Centre has been described as a “smaller sized hospital,” given the range of increased services which are now available at this facility.
Because a wing of the Health Centre was built inculcating the latest state-of-the-art technology, to transform space from positive to negative pressure, it can facilitate the isolation of patients with airborne infectious diseases, so patients with symptoms of Covid 19 for instance, can be separated and screened there, starting the process for treatment, without affecting other patients, seeking treatment for other ailments at the Health Centre.

This Health Centre will no doubt take some of the stress off operations at the Port of Spain General Hospital, providing care for patients within the ambit of the North West Region.
