UDeCOTT undertook the development of the two-story historic building, the construction of an Ancillary building, and external works, all inclusive of mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure, supply and installation of furniture, equipment, specialist equipment, work stations and specialist lighting so that the Building can begin operating as the permanent facility for the Eric Williams Memorial Collection Research Library.
Initially constructed in 1901 and now called “The Dr. Eric Williams Memorial Library Home of The Eric Williams Memorial Collection Research Library, Archives and Museum”, the Building comprises Dr. Williams’ eclectic library, official and personal papers including correspondence, manuscripts of both published and unpublished works, research notes, conference documents, and miscellany of reports. Publications and memorabilia relating to the birth of the People’s National Movement, the first ruling party of independent Trinidad and Tobago, are also included.
