In order to improve the availability of quality health care in Trinidad and Tobago, UDeCOTT has been tasked with the construction of new hospitals and renovation of existing hospitals. These facilities will meet the demands of a growing society and keep pace with advances in medical science as they become available.
The Arima General Hospital is situated on five hectares of land in the heart of Arima opposite the Arima Velodrome. The facility is the primary inpatient health care facility servicing not only the Borough of Arima but its environs including D’Abadie, La Horquetta, Malabar and Arouca.
Its 150 beds are dedicated to a wide range of medical services including Radiology, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics, Burns, Optical, ENT, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Surgery. The facility also offers ambulatory care, accident and emergency, pharmacy/dispensary, laboratory/blood bank and mortuary services.
The hospital has been outfitted with all relevant medical equipment, furniture, security systems, data and wireless networking along with a central energy plant and waste water treatment plant, ample parking spaces, roads infrastructure and landscaping.
