In order to improve the availability of quality health care in Trinidad and Tobago, UDeCOTT has been tasked with the construction of new hospitals and renovation of existing hospitals. These facilities will meet the demands of a growing society and keep pace with advances in medical science as they become available.
The New Arima Hospital is situated on five hectares of land in the heart of Arima at the intersection of Queen Mary Avenue and the Eastern Main Road, opposite to the Arima Velodrome Stadium. The facility will be the primary inpatient health care facility in the Borough of Arima servicing not only Arima but all its environs including D’Abadie, La Horquetta, Malabar and Arouca.
Its 150 beds will be dedicated to a wide range of medical services including Radiology, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics/ Burns, Optical, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Surgery. The facility will also offer ambulatory care, accident and emergency, pharmacy/dispensary, laboratory/blood bank and mortuary services.
The hospital is being outfitted with all relevant medical equipment, furniture, security systems, data and wireless networking along with a central energy plant and waste water treatment plant.
External works will include parking spaces, roads, and landscaping.
